The Movie The Spotlight - 1312 Words
Leadership in the Spotlight Lights, Camera, Action! Everybody knows and loves Noah and Allie. All you have to say is their names or quote one line, ââ¬Å"If youââ¬â¢re a bird, Iââ¬â¢m a bird,â⬠and the shrieking girls go ââ¬ËOH MY GOD! I love the Notebook!ââ¬â¢ The whole movie is about their love. Nobody whoââ¬â¢s seen the movie would fail to know the names of these lead characters, but most of them could not tell you the name of Noahââ¬â¢s best friend or the name of Allies cousin whom sheââ¬â¢s visiting. These characters are crucial to the story and an important part of these charactersââ¬â¢ lives and back-ground for the movies purpose, but most people fail to see here significance. The same goes for a leader or leadership position. Itââ¬â¢s easy to see the people in the spotlight, front and center, but itââ¬â¢s when you finally look in the shadows that you realize more is happening than what you saw at first glance. This topic, of leadership appears in William James article, ââ¬Å"The Social Value of the College-Bred,â⬠which features a topic in which he expresses college students using their education and experience to seek out, ââ¬Ëgoodââ¬â¢ leaders arguing that a college education teaches graduates to know good men when they seem them, which in turn allows them to help build a stronger democracy. James begins his article by expressing what people could gain from college and technical schools.
